We just discovered a pawsome program called Marley’s Mutt’s Pawsitive Change, which matches rescue dogs from all over the world with inmates for 12 weeks in the hopes that they come out of the program trained and ready for their forever homes. Inmates can apply for this program unless they committed sex crimes or have a history of violence against children or animals. The program helps the 30 inmates that are selected find control and confidence, while also helping the dogs find the same thing. The inmates who have done the program before act as advisors for inmates that are new to the program.
Shayan Asgharnia, an editorial and advertising photographer, goes to the California City Correctional Facility every Tuesday to document this program. He thinks this is a great program. Here’s some of the pictures he’s taken:
